Our client is one of New Zealand's leading energy companies and they have an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join their Business Development team. This new position reports directly to the General Manager Business Development and is primarily responsible for the following: Undertaking the engineering and commercial management of generation development projects from concept development to project commissioning. Identifying and assessing new generation development opportunities to ensure a portfolio of opportunities to meet the company's growth objectives. Monitoring developments, advances and trends in generation technologies, Monitoring development activities of competitors in both New Zealand and Australia. Securing strategic fuel resources suitable for generation development. Preparing project concepts, feasibility reports, cost estimates and budgets for generation development projects and report on progress. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in engineering and have significant experience in the power industry, particularly with thermal generation and fuel supply. You will have substantial negotiation experience as well as management of complex development projects. Evidence of continuing technical and commercial education would also be advantageous. It also essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as this role will require you to deal with a number of developers, suppliers, customers, network companies and numerous stakeholders.
