This role represents an opportunity for a senior designer-developer to take a lead role in a product development team with architecture design and hands on development for one of New Zealand's marketing automation products. A key component of this role is the ongoing development of components and modules related to mobile communications. Experience with SMS, SMPP, and WAP will be required. Future projects will require some MMS and J2ME experience. The successful candidate will be working with a highly focused team providing Internet and mobile marketing technology solutions to corporates,marketing and advertising industries within New Zealand and overseas. The products, technologies and applications are leading edge within the marketing and communications industry, and are now re-architecting to meet telecommunications-grade level of scalability and customization in preparation for overseas clients. Candidates from backgrounds developing solutions for the telecommunications and related industries, with experience in web-based distributed J2EE applications and multi channel messaging will find this role very interesting and the set of technologies and technical problems very challenging. Key Responsibilities: Development of distributed scalable solutions based on J2EE technologies Development of SMS, MMS and WAP based system components Architecture into high-performance architectures and modules Review, QA and mentoring of other developers Technical Skills and Experience: 3+ years experience as a senior Java developer in commercial software house, ideally with experience designing systems and applications for the mobile & telecommunications industry. 5+ Years of software development Strong RDBMS skills in Oracle, DB2 or MS SQL server Structured/Object-Orientated design experience Experience with J2EE technologies (JSP, Servlet, JDBC, JMS, EJB) Experience with system architecture of framework design preferred Experience with Web Application Development In depth hands on knowledge of designing and implementing high-throughput transactional systems that will scale up to meet the needs of large telcos and ISPs Technologies: SMS, SMPP, WAP, Java, J2EE, Oracle, Linux, Tomcat.Apache, Soap, XML, Email, Web, FAX
